RS Products at Karuizawa 2016

RS Products has build its name for a long time. It’s considered as the classiest parts available for the MX-5 Miatas and will bring a classic look to any car’s interior. This year, they brought some parts to enhance the ND Roadster’s interior!

Let’s start with an overview of their NA Demo Car, because they did not have any ND shop car in place:

DSC_0554

The car is really classic. It’s rocking some RS Watanabe Wheels (chrome color), Barchetta Clubman GT Front Bumper, RS Products Rear View Mirror and Runabout S800 Side Mirrors!

The interior of this car is also totally worth taking a look! It has the RS Products Center Console, RS Products Classic Switches, RS Products M2 Meter Panel and Nakamae Type-R Seats!

Now, let’s take a quick look into their new ND part:

DSC_0548

As you can see, they released one of their regular product, the ND Gauge Faces. It’s available in both Black or White background. It’s very similar to their NC Gauge Faces, but a bit more modern to fit with the ND interior style.

DSC_0549 DSC_0550 DSC_0551 DSC_0552

I couldn’t picture their other part, but they also released a ND Meter Color Changer which changes the factory white/blue lighting to red lighting! Price for this item is about $60 which is really affordable.

I hope you enjoyed this RS Products coverage at Karuizawa Meeting 2016 and will continue reading our future blog posts~

RS Factory Stage at Karuizawa 2016

RS Factory Stage was one of the most liked ND at Karuizawa Meeting last year, due to their very cool graphics as well as 18” wheels fitment. This year, they came back with a car that had much more of a racing look and nicer aerodynamics.

DSC_0619

They had their ND Front Underspoiler installed which fits between the OEM Front Canards to give a more aggressive look to the front end!

DSC_0615 DSC_0616

They also were showing their ND Angled License Plate Holder, for those who wouldn’t want to block air going through the front grille.

DSC_0608 DSC_0609 DSC_0610

RS Factory Stage also showcased its original ND Ducktail Spoiler as well as its new ND Dual Exit Muffler which really suit the lines of the car!

Garage Vary at Karuizawa Meeting 2016

Garage Vary really has stepped up their game in the previous year, especially with their ND (2016+) Roadster parts. They built a really nice car for Tokyo Auto Salon 2016, and it did not change by much for Karuizawa meeting, but, now, most of the parts are production ready!

DSC_0898

The demo car is running their ND Type-3 (Glide) Front Lip with integrated canards. The one on their demo car is actually unique for the fact that it’s made out of Carbon Fiber (will never be sold to the public).

DSC_0899

They introduced their new ND Ram Air Intake that will pick fresh air from the front grille as well as the small opening from the hood. It’s a really nice system that has A LOT of work behind it.

DSC_0519 DSC_0520 DSC_0521 DSC_0522

The car was also rocking their ND Vented Front Fenders which really suit the vehicle nicely and improves aerodynamics.

DSC_0518

Their ND Emotional Low GT Wing was also installed directly on their ND Aero Vented Rear Bumper to give a really aggressive rear end to the car.

DSC_0528 DSC_0529

Finally, they introduced me to a new line of ND Interior Products; the REAL Japan Carbon Fiber Steering Wheel and the REAL Japan Stainless Steel Shift Knob!

DSC_0516 DSC_0517

Also, as usual, they brought the whole family of small cars with them : NC Go Kart & 2x NC Pedal Cars:

Paddock Style NB & ND Shop Cars at Karuizawa 2016

We are not supposed to show Paddock Style Demo Cars as “Karuizawa Shop Cars”, because they were not in the official area. However, the owner of the shop kindly found us and asked us to go check it out, so we figured out it was a nice gesture and wanted to encourage him. They had their NB and ND demo cars.

Let’s start with the NB Shop Car:

DSC_0681

It had their newly developed NB Front Chin Spoiler as well as their NB Coloured Headlight Covers. We could also spot their NB Carbon Fiber License Plate Holder and NB Front Bumper Duct as well as some Garage Vary Front Canards!

DSC_0670 DSC_0672 DSC_0674 DSC_0678

One very cool touch to the vehicle was their NB Mazda Emblem Ram Air Intake which was inspired by Garage Vary’s version of it.

DSC_0679

The interior was not left unmodified. It had their new NB Center Console that was made especially to add room for the arm when driving and making it more comfortable for taller persons. The car also had a TUCKIN99 Type-RS Bucket Seat!

DSC_0666 DSC_0667 DSC_0669

They also had their new ND Demo Car that was really neat looking with the Advan RZ-II 17×7.5 +38 Wheels in Racing Gloss Black:

DSC_0682

The car was also featuring the Autoexe Rear Diffuser combined with their ND Titanium Dual-Center Exhaust Setup. It did look AWESOME and sounded great, too!

DSC_0659 DSC_0660 DSC_0661

The car also had the beautiful Integral Kobe Master Spec Rear Spoiler installed and it really reminded us of the original R-Package NA Rear Spoiler.

We hope you enjoyed this Paddock Style coverage at Karuizawa Meeting! They are a very new company and we sincerely hope that they will continue bringing new cool parts to the market!

RS Arrive Shop Car at Karuizawa Meeting 2016

Arrive is one very innovative shop making awesome parts for NA, NB, NC and recently for ND Miatas. They really make awesome products that look neat (OEM-like) and are very functional. I have to apologize for the bad pictures, but the place was PACKED.

They had their new ND Demo Car in Soul Red that is rocking some beautiful Advan RZ 16×8 +35 Wheels in Gunmetal Color. Car looked perfect and functional, as usual.

DSC_0591

The interior featured their Prototype ND Aftermarket Steering Wheel Controls that works with the OEM stereo and will control volume, information & change tracks. Pretty nice for those who want a racing setup, but still want to use the steering controls. It was all installed onto a Nardi Classico Steering Wheel.

DSC_0592 DSC_0593

They also had some cool products for older generations MX-5 on display:

Arrive Air/Water & Oil/Voltage Gauge Combo that integrates into the NA or NB dashboard and looks OEM!

DSC_0594 DSC_0595

Prototype Arrive Eunos VIN Plates that are customized for every customer. Available in metal or plexiglass finish as well as key chain!

DSC_0596

Prototype ND Steering Wheel Controls for MOMO Steering Wheel that comes with all possible controls for the ND Mazda Infotainment System such as calling functions/Bluetooth and audio.

Nakamae Shop Car at Karuizawa Meeting 2016

Here is a post about Nakamae’s latest products shown at Karuizawa Meeting. Nakamae-san wanted to bring some ND products to the market for this year and totally delivered!

After asking the owner personally at least 20 times in the past year, he finally unveiled its ND Quilted Seat Covers (Black Leather & Red Stitching):

DSC_0583DSC_0582
DSC_0581

The seat covers were finished just a few days ago and Nakamae told us that the bottom piece would fit better (deeper) once the driver has driven the car with these seats for a few weeks. The stitching color was 100% perfect matching with Mazda OEM one.
He also showed me the ND Sport Seat covers (Black Leather & Red Stitching) that was a nice reminder of the pattern used in the original NA Roadster V-Special seats. It has a very nice look and will sure improve the interior of anyone running fabric seats!

DSC_0584 DSC_0585

As you can see, the airbag portion of the seat cover is not covered at all. This is a unique feature that Nakamae is really proud of and guarantees absolutely no interference with the airbag.

DSC_0586

He also tried to keep the “hole” feature of the OEM seats by covering it with a nice fabric mesh:

DSC_0587

Lastly, Nakamae showed me a comfort feature for the fourth generation Roadster, the ND Armrest Pad. It’s available in both matching Sport version as well as the Quilted version (shown in Alcantara here). It’s a very nice touch that makes the arm rest much more comfortable.

DSC_0588

We hope you enjoyed this feature on Nakamae’s latest ND products! We also took a quick shot of his personal NA car featuring the Type-GT Seats, Gate Console, 430D Leather Shift Knob, Round Handbrake Handle, Old Fashioned Handbrake Boot, Door Panels Type-2, DIY Aluminum Door Handles & Seatbelt Covers!

Karuizawa 2016 Meeting : Jet Stream

I begin the coverage of demo cars from Karuizawa Meeting 2016 with Jet Stream as, in my opinion, they released the craziest demo car in the whole meeting this year. It was actually a VERY QUICK build that needed a lot of time, sweat, tears and patience. I met with the Jet Stream team in the morning at 4:00 AM and their demo car was not even close to be completed. That reminds me of all those car building shows we see at Discovery Channel, but it was in real life. What a thrill! Now, enough talk and let’s look at what they showed for Karuizawa:

DSC_0569 DSC_0571

They made a really unique NA this year, with full Jet Stream NA22C Wide Body Kit as well as their Jet Stream Hardtop Extension. It is called NA22C, because it’s inspired from the old school RX-7 that had chassis name of SA22C. The kit consist in a Front Bumper (+ Front Lip), Fender Flares & Side Steps.

It is pretty nice seeing that they relocated the OEM headlights onto their front bumper, but also did relocate the fender turn signals out there, too!

DSC_0572

The car was rocking some extremely wide Work Meister S1 in 15×9 paired with spacers to give it some really low offset!

DSC_0574 DSC_0578

The Jet Stream Hardtop Extension was one pretty awesome and unique design. It’s hard to see, but it’s made out of 3 pieces : 2 side pieces and 1 trunk extension. You basically keep your OEM hardtop and put these extensions on top of it to totally change the look of your NA!

DSC_0576 DSC_0577

The car was also rocking a SUPER WIDE Jet Stream Rear Spoiler that was designed specially for their Hardtop Extension .

DSC_0580

Not only the build was inside on the outside, but the engine bay was also SUPER neat.

DSC_0605

And not to mention the super simplistic interior.

DSC_0907

Here is the team behind this crazy build:

DSC_0568

And here’s what it looked like at the end of the day… don’t forget that they worked pretty much non-stop for the past 48 hours and were already working at 2:00 AM that morning…

DSC_0901 DSC_0902

This is the legend behind all the crazy Jet Stream parts, my friend Akio:

And just for a final laugh, Engrish never gets old;

I hope you enjoyed this blog post as more of them are coming for our Karuizawa Meeting 2016 Coverage!

Karuizawa Roadster Meeting 2016 Introduction

This year, I’ve attended Karuizawa Meeting (biggest Roadster/Miata/MX-5 meeting in the WORLD). This is my 3rd time to personally attend this meeting and I’m always impressed by the quality and uniqueness of the Roadsters that are exposing at the meeting. This year, we’ve beat the record of the most Roadsters at the same place (for Karuizawa) and we’ve had over 1300 cars!

image1

Statistics of the event:

NA: 555 units (41%)

NB: 324 units (24%)

NC: 237 units (17%)

ND: 247 units (18%)

It’s pretty crazy to see that after 1 year of being released in Japan, the ND owners/tuners already are surpassing the NC owners! This is also the reason why there are so many ND parts released recently.

Here are some pictures of the parking that I took, to give you an idea of how big it is (and this shows just 1/3 of the show area):

img2 img3

During the show, Mazda Japan also unveiled the MX-5 RF which is going for sale during next week (and it’s also the first time we’ll see the 2.0L engine in Japan):

img4 img5

During this legendary day, I’ve had the chance to sign the 1 millionth Roadster ever produced (and catch one hell of a sunburn…)! I’ve also heard that Mazda will ship the car to Australia, Europe and North America so other enthusiasts can also sign this very iconic car!

img6 img7

In the following days, we’ll make blog posts about the shop cars that exposed at Karuizawa Meeting as well as some awesome cars we saw in the parking area! Check out this video I took and posted live, 2 weeks ago, on our Facebook Page:

Karuizawa Roadster Meeting 2014 (Barchetta & ZOOM)

Today’s a very short post as I don’t have much pictures of both vehicles, unfortunately. We’ve met Barchetta who’s working on mostly high end products that are very limited editions and ZOOM who’s always here to create some new, functional items.

Barchetta

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERABarchetta came with their cool NC (one of the first tuners who started developing parts for it). It’s very flashy with orange bumper dam, mirrors and wheel lips! It also has a custom air duct in the front bumper.

ZOOM

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERAZOOM came with their legendary Elan shop car. It’s such a cool looking car, very retro inspired. The yellow roll bar makes it even cooler.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERAThey also showed us some of their ball shift knobs which will be available soon at our web store as well as their EUNOS badges and their very popular Cellphone Holder.

Karuizawa Roadster Meeting 2014 (Jet Stream)

A few weeks have passed since our last post. Had to take some vacations 😉 Now, I deserve a full post for Jet Stream as they have brought many AWESOME cars and really deserve this exposure. I met the owner of the company last January and he is awesome and always looking at creating new cool items. He recently launched his side business called DHR (Dark Horse Racing) to build parts for racing purpose that are track tested.

Jet Stream

As usual, when going to Karuizawa, we travel with Jet Stream. A nice convoy of NA, NB and NC that all represent the company very well.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERAThe NC interior parts are under development. It looks real nice. Jet Stream is still not satisfied with the overall look, so it’s not available to purchase yet.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERAHere’s the car that everyone talks about. It’s a track prepped car with all Jet Stream aero (GT200 kit) and undisclosed engine modifications. It has a DHR Headlight Lid to bring more air into the engine bay. Talk about racing and style.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERAThis is the owner’s personal car. It’s rocking their NC3 front lip and DHR Front Bumper Intake Duct. The owner tells us that he can’t stop looking at his car as he finds it so beautifully done. I totally agree with him.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERAThis is DHR NC intake system. A very popular part in the Japanese racing crowd. Proven to give better acceleration, many other shops use it and love it. It’s going to be available soon at REV9.

14 2014-05-25 18.19.22_2This is the NA that’s working 16″ Work Meister S1 and some Jet Stream aero. It’s not one of their shop cars, but a customer car that represents them.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERAThey also showed us a recent customer install of their front lip onto a NC2. Gotta love hot it changes the look.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERATo finish, here’s a last shot of their customer’s NB race car. Enjoy!
